The internet has taken modern civilisation forward in leaps and bounds, we only have to look back 15 years and the concept of a world wide web was little more than a small group of computers joined together by 56kBs telephone lines.
Today however we crave the high speed internet to the extent that everyone has the possibility of connectivity in their pockets, and complain when their minimum connection speed drops anything below 1mBs.
Budding entrepreneurshave seized this possibility of expanding their audience and now employ website designers to produce more glamorous but easy to use websites. 15 years ago Windows was in its infancy and no-one had fully grasped how big this network would become, most work was carried out off-line only connecting to pass files between machines. Now we have permanent connection to servers meaning that the browser that merely had to handle small text files now needs to handle Flash, Quick time, Java, Music and many more background applications to make the users surfing experience more enjoyable.
The human being is a social creature and one of the first things they tried to do was talk to new individuals, hard on the heels of chatting came dating and lo the Dating On-Line site was born. Dating On-Line allowed individuals in Alaska to talk to individuals in Japan, Kilt wearing Scotsmen to flirt with Clog wearing Dutch the possibilities only limited by the access to the internet. As the browser developed to handle better quality pictures and video so the Dating On-line sites were able to present their clientele with a better idea of who they were trying to romance.
In the background the web designers continued their off-line activities, with more flexible and faster development tools they were able to produce web sites that utilised as much of the Browser application as possible, to give the users a more enjoyable web experience. Encouraging people to stay on line keep their connection connected and never to stray Off-line lest they miss that all important piece of news or hot date in the local pub in 10 minutes time.
