I had recently quit my job as a support officer for a website development company. I did not like the idea of spending all my time on-line, on the net surfing through various websites, all coming back to have the same pop-up to bore me and confront me monotonously.
It was a good thing to be on-line, as the net offered many things that society did not have, like a pop-up that could give you as much toffee ice cream as you wanted for £5 or a pop-up that could give you cheaper surfing charges when using the net. I never believed any of these pop-up's, as usually I would be the one who was worse off in the end.
I did like to be on-line, however. It was a brilliant little community, with lots of people to talk to and lots of things to do. It was like a centre of entertainment, right at my fingertips. I could bowl, play other games, play bingo, chat to my friends, anything. It was like an online paradise.
I had made many friends online. Many different friends, from all corners of the world, all interested in the same things as I was. My main interest was online gaming. It had interested me from a child and now I was an avid gamer. I could quite easily spend numerous hours everyday with a joypad or a controller in my hand, doing numerous things such as killing a few people on Call of Duty before having a race on Burnout Paradise.
I loved my life as well. I couldn't think of anything better to do with my day. I wasn't one of those people who could get thrills in the day by going out or playing sports, going to the gym or even finding a job. Well, I had a job, but I still worked at home. I did believe in staying active, but not really in participating in sports. Sports could have the opportunity of getting injured, which I did not see the point in. I was happy to be in front of a pc all day while staying active than having a broken arm.
